{BLOOM: An Event for New & Expecting Moms} Meet the Experts

Green Bay Area Moms Blog in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is thrilled to be hosting the 1st Annual BLOOM: An Event for New & Expecting Moms. The event will take place the morning of Saturday, May 13th from 9:00-11:30 at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Corporate Center in Neenah. A portion of the event will be dedicated to our expert panel. Each expert will speak to her area of specialty and field questions from our attendees.

Annette Peters

Annette Peters, Director Kindercare Learning Center (Kimberly) has been in the Early Childhood field since 1990. She started out as a teacher and then moved into management. Her center is a NAEYC accredited center and a 5 star for Youngstar.  She takes great pride in her long-term staff and the high quality education program her center offers.

Annette has been married for 29 years and has 2 children. Her son, Nicholas, is married to a wonderful girl named, Corie. They have a very handsome, red headed son named Owen. Grandma’s pride and joy. Her daughter Paige is 24 and getting married in June to a wonderful young man, Matt.

Ashlee Rahmlow, MSW/LCSW

Ashlee Rahmlow, MSW/LCSW is the founder of Mom2Mom and works as a Behavioral Health Specialist. She is a passionate advocate for moms and volunteers as a State of WI Co-Coordinator for Postpartum Support International. She presented at Postpartum Progress’ Conference in Atlanta, GA in October, 2016 and will be a presenter at Postpartum Support International’s Annual Conference in Philadelphia in July.  Ashlee believes that healthy moms foster healthy families and communities and began Mom2Mom to ensure that information and peer support are readily available for all moms struggling with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

Becky Buelow, MD

Becky Buelow, MD, is a pediatric and adult asthma and allergy specialist located at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin specialty clinic in Neenah.  Becky sees patients on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and she is accepting new patients. 

She earned her medical degree and completed her residency and fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Becky is also an assistant professor of allergy/immunology in the pediatrics department at the Medical College.

Becky and her husband, Matt, a Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin pediatric cardiologist in Neenah, have a 2-year-old daughter and twin sons, who will celebrate their first birthday in July.

Dawn Barker, RN, IBCLC

Dawn Barker, RN, IBCLC, is a certified lactation consultant with additional hours of lactation education and numerous hours of supervised clinical experience with breastfeeding mothers and babies.  She has been a nurse and lactation consultant in the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Neenah Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for over 10 years.

Dawn is also one of Children’s lactation consultants who hosts “Moms and Milk Club” breastfeeding support group every Thursday morning (except holidays) from 10-11 am in the 3rd floor NICU lobby consultation room. We welcome ALL babies and mothers to our Mom’s and Milk Club.  (Babies do not need to have been Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin patients in order for mothers to join the support group.)

Gina Schwebke, RD, CD

Gina Schwebke, RD,CD, is a registered dietitian at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She leads a team of dietitians that serve patients both in the hospital in Neenah and at specialty clinic locations throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

Registered dietitians assess the child’s nutritional status and reassess the child as needed to ensure that they are receiving good nutrition and growing appropriately. They teach how to introduce new foods, give tips on increasing calories in their child’s diet, and educate on administering formula or blenderized food through a feeding tube. Dietitians also work with schools and other providers to coordinate and streamline a child’s nutritional care.

Gina is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Biology.
