Spring Break Staycation ideas for the Green Bay Area

1

This year for Spring Break, we are doing a “staycation” as my parents will be in town from NC (aka spoiling the grandkids).  Since we are in Wisconsin, we need mostly indoor activities. Here are some of our plans as well as some of our family favorites.

Green Bay BlizzardSunday is the Green Bay Blizzards indoor football game (FREE thanks to GBAM).

Monday we’re traveling to Milwaukee to visit the Jewish Museum as my mom has wanted to visit this for years now. What can I say, a staycation to me usually means Green Bay attractions, but we hope to have time to also go to Discovery World. Side note, do yourself a favor and purchase a Neville Museum membership as its reciprocity with the ASTC Passport Program is amazing…and it includes Discovery World as it’s more than 90 miles from my address!

Tuesday is Value Tuesday at Marcus. Yes, even during spring break! My teens and tween are excited to see Shazam! Fury of the Gods in reserved Dream Loungers (& all the moms said “amen” to not trying to find enough open seats or have their littles kick the back of the person in front of them). Marcus also offers the Kids Dream Family Film Series going on now through April 2nd which has $3 movies and snack specials.

Wednesday our staycation will continue at Dave and Buster’s as it’s their weekly half-price games day. We have so much fun when we go! My kids are older, I’d recommend they be around 10 years old or so to truly enjoy it all. We also enjoyed Chuck E. Cheese when they were younger. Currently, Chuck E. Cheese is running an app-download special.

The weekend is still up in the air, but highly likely we will go to Urban Air &/or Funset Boulevard as those are definitely treats for my kids. All ages can truly have fun at both of these places in Appleton. We went to Urban Air for the first time over Christmas break and stayed 7 hours!! The kids went on and on about it being the best day ever. I do recommend reading over the levels as some may be worth the cost but depends on your kids’ ages and desires. At Funset, I’d highly recommend purchasing unlimited wristbands for the kids; there are 2 types (1 includes laser tag). Also, if you’re a Marcus Magical Movie Rewards member, your Funset purchase counts toward your rewards. You can always check out their special offers for even more deals.

We do enjoy some fresh air when possible. Baird Creek has lots of trails, but can be really muddy through early spring (extra shoes and clothes to ride home in are highly suggested). Heckrodt Nature Center, Bubolz Gordon Nature Preserve, and Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary are always a treat.

We really enjoy tubing at Winter Park in Kewaunee, but do check their page for hours as they’re weather dependent.

Other indoor options are Children’s Museum of Green Bay, Big Building for Kids, Barlow Planetarium along with Weis Earth Science Museum, National Railroad Museum, and De Pere Cinema. Many of these are free or very inexpensive.

Aren’t we blessed to live in an area with so many staycation choices in our area? If possible, try to enjoy at least one of these during spring…even if you aren’t planning a staycation.
