Last month, I resolved to serve in the Green Bay community. Random Acts of Kindness week gives me a reason to serve even more. So I decided to share my list of ideas that I want to implement not only this week but all year round.
40 Ideas for Random Acts of Kindness:
- Pay for someone’s coffee, meal, or even groceries.
- Bake cookies for your neighbors.
- Buy flowers for a single mom.
- Send a thank you note to a teacher who impacted you.
- Help someone pack their groceries into their car.
- Shovel someone’s driveway and sidewalk.
- Babysit for a couple so they can have a date night.
- Give a word of encouragement to a mom or dad dealing with a child having a tantrum
- Give up your seat for someone else
- Pump gas for someone else at the gas station on a cold day
- Leave a gift for your mail carrier
- Donate school supplies to local schools
- Make a meal for a family who just had a baby.
- Smile at someone who is used to being not noticed
- Bring gifts to a nursing home
- Leave change on the machines in the laundromat.
- Put change in a meter whose time has run out.
- Hold the door open for another
- Take a neighbor’s dog for a walk for them.
- Change someone’s tire if they are stranded on the road.
- Buy a gift and visit someone in the hospital.
- Do a chore for someone else in your household
- Pick up the litter on the street or in the park

- Drop off baked goods to your local police or fire station

- Bring coffee to a local tax preparation company. (They deserve it for the hours they work during tax season)
- Write letters to the lonely (military, in nursing homes, those who lost a loved one)
- Send a text to a friend telling them why you are grateful for their friendship
- Take a neighbor’s trash can to the road for pick-up
- Give blankets to the homeless
- Compliment a co-worker in front of their boss
- Give a larger tip
- Help someone who gets stuck in the snow
- Bring a treat to work
- Give someone a gift card for no reason. You don’t even need to know them!
